Turok
Sooo.. finally got some time off from every thing, work, games (mainly games..
). So As I said before it time to get in to some serious gaming. J
I decided to pick Turok mainly because of its creative story line and game play. Turok is not some a new character to comics, in fact he first appeared in Four Color Comics #596 (1954), then graduated to his own title, Turok, Son of Stone. But Turok came to the gaming world in 1997 with Turok: Dinosaur Hunter (1997), for the Nintendo 64 and PC.

Turok games taken from the wiki.
- Turok: Dinosaur Hunter (1997), for the Nintendo 64 and PC
- Turok: Battle of the Bionosaurs (1997), for the Game Boy
- Turok 2: Seeds of Evil (1998), for the Nintendo 64, Game Boy Color and PC.
- Turok: Rage Wars (1999), for the Nintendo 64 and Game Boy Color
- Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion (2000), for the Nintendo 64 and Game Boy Color.
- Turok: Evolution (2002), for the Nintendo GameCube, Game Boy Advance, PC, PlayStation 2 and Xbox
- Turok (2008), The latest installment in the Turok video game series for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
Through out these games the story has been changed significantly, from a time traveling warrior to a Native Indian and finally ending up in a futuristic military personal named, Joseph Turok. The new game is a complete reboot of the traditional Turok story line.
“Turok was a member of Wolf Pack, a specialized military detachment whose members were trained in black ops by General Roland Kane. After a falling out with the group, Turok was reassigned back to the military and was eventually made the newest member of Whiskey Company—a team that has been assembled to apprehend his former mentor and return him to Earth. On approach to their target, the starship they are in is shot down from orbit and crash lands on the terraformed surface where Turok quickly learns that the dinosaurs inhabiting its jungles were created with accelerated evolution. Through several adventures, Turok and the surviving marines eventually discover that Kane has created a Soldier bug-based biotoxin with deadly and immediate effects that disperses harmlessly after use, making it an ideal first strike weapon. Whiskey Company comes up with a plan to stop Kane and escape.”
Turok has the usual game mechanics, including a stealth system. So what make this game so special? One thing would be the size, 15GB after installation. This is HUGE compared to other games. All the space mainly goes for the graphics and animations, which makes this game quite unique. And the other specialty of this game would be the dinos, cuz when the dinos comes raging in, things just gets pretty fun. My personal favorite is taking down the raptors with the knife. This game has some of the best in game motions I’ve seen so far.

The bow and knife along with the dinos makes this game quite unique. But it certainly isn’t the best. One problem is that the AI doesn’t quite act out the way it spouse to. In one occasion the AI told me to follow him n it was just standing still. The developers have spent a lot of time working on the dinos than the human AI. (not a good point I must say) The story behind the game isn’t that much interesting either.
Basically to list out…
Cons
Buggy AI
Crappy story line
Limited interaction with the world
Linear game play in some occasions (taking out the spider tank)
Apart from Dinos no creativity
Save points sucks
Pros
Good graphics
Cool character motions
Considering the fact that this is using the unreal 3 engine I expected a lot more from this game. It seems like they were in a hurry to wrap this game up. If u have no other game to play and have enough money to buy this then go n buy it.
